Not only the Para 2 has better steel to make the blade while also being made in the country, this blade is sharper out of the box and retains the edge longer in combination to rust resistance. I'm not interested in more PM3s. Plus, I figure they both feel the same in my pocket, so why not have a more substantial blade? 50 ($40.77/oz) $199.95 $199.95. I like the size of the para three, but the ergonomics of the pm2. For my grip the PM2 is so much more comfortable and natural in hand (and that is why I have 10 different models, more than i can justify). Dan. S30 V is a good steel but I have had S30V rust and even worse pit on me in the heat of summer drenched in sweat with a Para3. Steels aside, you ultimately need to hold each knife in hand and decide what feels better and fits better in your hand. Just as with the Military model, the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 is built with very high quality materials. The PM2 just carries small, but uses big and feels great in the hand. The smaller blade size versus the PM2 is a matter of opinion â I think the sweet spot for daily use is right around 3.5â, so for me the Para 3 is a little on the small side, but some people prefer sub 3â blades for EDC use as they lend themselves more naturally to detail oriented tasks. As the original was a smaller, lighter version of the popular Paramilitary 2, this model is even lighter. After holding that for an evening it was just too big for me for anything outside of use in the woods. The Sage is now 2nd on my buy list, I did get a deal on a Dragonfly 2 and itâs a great knife although Iâm not a big fan of lockback knives. If you watched the video up top then you are probably aware of all of the many awesome variations of the Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I'd recommend a Sage 5 for getting as close to the Para 3 as you can, or a Native 5 if you want something American and/or a lockback and/or a slightly better steel.
